A retail chain in Northbrook ran into a server room cooling issue when their 30-ton Liebert unit developed a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil. To keep the worldwide corporate server room running without business interruptions, it was necessary to install some temporary cooling equipment until the repair was complete. The leak on the Liebert Unit evaporator coil was unrepairable, so the entire evaporator was replaced. A Mechanical Contractor called Porta-Air for a spot cooling solution. After analyzing the server room layout and location of utilities, we proposed adding 5-ton water cooled units evenly distributed throughout the server room. We installed the necessary water hoses and wiring to power the air chillers.
Once the Temporary AC equipment was installed , the server room was maintained at the requested temperature of 68 F throughout the contractor’s work. IT rooms need to maintain adequate temperatures 24/7 for server rooms to function properly. Do you have a contingency plan in place for your server room? If not, please feel free to give us a call. Porta-Air rents and sells server room AC units to ensure your servers stay cool 24/7.
