East Dundee, IL - Summer Relief using an Evaporator Cooler in East Dundee, IL Located in Kane County

During the late summer heat wave of August 2023, a restaurant manager requested outdoor patio cooling relief for their outside dining area. Since the dining area was mostly open to the outside elements with limited power, low amperage cooling solutions were the only feasible solution without the use of a generator. Fans and Evaporative Coolers were strategically located, providing some relief to the customers. When ice was added to the evaporative cooler, it provided adequate cooling to combat the heat wave.

Chicago, IL - Indirect Fired Rental in the Sauganash Neighborhood

A church encountered a failed heat exchanger in their boiler room and requested emergency heat for their church services and functions. An LB White indirect fired portable heater rental was installed which supplied makeup-air to aid in heating air distribution. The high temperature heater ductwork was interfaced with the church through a window opening. Pressurizing the church with fresh outdoor air also helped with indoor air changes per hour, thus helping prevent the spread of virus during the pandemic. Temporary heat is an option while your permanent heating system is being restored to normal operation. The portable heater depicted was roped off with caution tape to keep people away from the heater while the boiler was being replaced.

Chicago, IL - 40kW Electric Heater Installation in the Rock Island Neighborhood

During the winter of 2023/2024, a customer requested additional heat inside their woodworking shop and gave Porta-Air a call to rent heat. After discussing the details of his shop and the power available, we proposed a 40kW electric heater. Sawdust and gas fired equipment were not a good combination in this application, therefore an electrical heater was the only logical solution, but care was still required. Since the power disconnect was not far from the placement of the heater, it was an easy hookup with a short cord. All large electric heat rentals are prewired with a short cord with male camlocks attached. This cord/camlock setup makes it easy to connect longer wire lengths, from the heater to the power source, by simply adding cord extensions in 50-foot increments. Our larger electric heaters also have a high temperature ductwork option, which aids in directing heat to where it’s needed. We use a special material shield between the hot metal heater discharge and the fabric ductwork to minimize heat transfer between the dissimilar materials. Electric heat is one of the safer heating options available.

Chicago, IL - Construction Renovation of Building, Gold Coast Neighborhood

During the initial phases of construction, direct fired natural gas heating units are sometimes the general contractors heat of choice because of the heating output efficiency and rental cost. DF heaters cost considerably less than Indirect Fired Heaters. Open flame heaters are 100% efficient and can either operate off of propane or natural gas. Also, there are diesel direct fired heaters as well but less common and used in specific applications. Direct fired units need fresh air intake from the outdoors to avoid carbon monoxide and water vapor by products. When direct fired heaters are starved of oxygen, the flame will turn from blue to yellow and CO and water vapor are emitted. When you get a headache when around direct fired heaters, it is most likely a result of the lack of fresh air supplied to the heater. Direct fired heaters are the ticket when plenty of fresh air is available.
