When this picture was taken of two water-cooled portable rental air conditioners, there were not many people in the bank branch at the time. These units were used temporarily while the old rooftop unit was being interchanged with a new rooftop unit. This is a very common application for our cooling rental units. Indirect Heater rentals are a popular choice when the main heating system fails inside a commercial building. In both applications, makeup air is being used to pressurize the buildings. When air is taken from the outdoors, it is heated and blown into the building which aid in even heating distribution throughout the space. Bringing in fresh outdoor air also helps prevent the spread of pathogens. The heated air is never in contact with the flame, therefore 100% clean heated air is being generated by the portable indirect heater rental. Indirect heaters are more expensive to rent but the overall cost to operate can be less expensive than its counterparts. Natural gas for both applications is taken from the building boiler rooms and routed through natural gas flexible hoses. Three 5-ton OP60’s portable coolers were installed in a large barn for a wedding reception in July of 2024. Electrical interface from the electrical box to the 3 large portable 5-ton rental units was the biggest challenge. The main electrical distribution panels were located on the ground level of the barn. Since there was a large, ramped driveway to the 2nd floor of the barn, loading and unloading of the equipment was relativity easy. We received a phone call shortly after a heat wave blanketed our area in the western suburb of Hoffman Estates. When the RTU on the roof was deemed unrepairable due to its age, we arrived to evaluate temporary cooling solutions. With the large amount of heat generation inside the space from chillers and other equipment, it was rather unbearable.
