For the HVAC rental installation below, the cold air from the 5-ton spot cooler is directed through ducts to the larger servers where most of the heat is being generated. The cold air discharge from the 5-ton portable was eventually balanced, providing adequate cool air to different areas of the server racks.

When the Mini-Split inside the server room failed, Porta-Air received a call to install a portable spot cooling unit, Office Pro 18 to overcome the heat load being generated by the servers. The air conditioning rental unit was installed using a condensate pump, where the pump condensate line was run 9 feet vertically and 100 feet horizontally above the ceiling to the water drain. A condensate pump was necessary so the unit would provide cooling continuously, 24/7. If a condensate bucket were used, in place of the pump, it would fill-up quickly with condensate and disable the compressor, thus no cooling.

A retail chain in Northbrook ran into a server room cooling issue when their 30-ton Liebert unit developed a refrigerant leak in the evaporator coil. To keep the worldwide corporate server room running without business interruptions, it was necessary to install some temporary cooling equipment until the repair was complete. The leak on the Liebert Unit evaporator coil was unrepairable, so the entire evaporator was replaced. A Mechanical Contractor called Porta-Air for a spot cooling solution. After analyzing the server room layout and location of utilities, we proposed adding 5-ton water cooled units evenly distributed throughout the server room. We installed the necessary water hoses and wiring to power the air chillers.
